Originating from 19th century Anatolia, the Dervish Coin is connected to the Sufi mystical path. It was traditionally given to a seeker who had completed their journey under a spiritual guide, not as a prize but as a quiet acknowledgement of inner change.
The figure at its center is a whirling dervish, captured mid turn. In Sufi practice the whirl is a form of meditation, a movement meant to draw the soul closer to divine love and awareness.
Inscribed on the coin are the words:
HAMDIM • PİŞTİM • YANDIM
I was raw. I became cooked. I burned.
A reflection of growth from innocence to understanding, and finally to surrender. Historically the coin was kept as both a token and a companion, believed to carry calmness and spiritual steadiness for the one who held onto it.
Today it remains less of an object and more of a reminder. Some journeys cannot be rushed, and some changes only happen through patience and fire.
